Thread Painting Embroidery

This FDE workship will introduce the use of  simple handsewing supplies to create an embroidered design on fabric.  Thread painting is an easy and rewarding technique  that uses color, shading and texture to create  a finished and realistic embroidery picture or design.

Threads, hoops, fabric and all needed materials will be supplied.  Students will sketch and create simple objects (hearts, leaves, etc) and learn basic embroidery stitches after a lesson on threading a needle, knots and setting a hoop. Students will learn the basic stitches used to create a shaded and texture piece of embroidery.
